Windmill tower section and rotor blade(blade trailer) usually are over-length goods which make it difficult to transport them. The extendable telescopic trailer is an economic and convenient way to transport those long blades.

The windmill tower is a large-scale component for wind power generation equipment transportation. The preliminary fabrication of the wind power tower is fabricating in the workshop. Sometimes we need to transfer it to the assembly and welding site for interior decoration installation and then move it to the coating plant for appearance sanding, painting, and other processes.

Generally, the windmill tower diameter can reach 4-5 meters, and the length is 20-30 meters. At present, such huge components’ transportation process is performing by the transportation of lengthened flat plates. The problems of using flat transporter to transport wind towers are as follows: Before each transportation, it is necessary to configure the shelf matching the diameter of the windmill tower. According to the wind tower’s length, we can firmly fix the bracket’s position, the rack, and the frame of the transport trailer.
Then the wind tower is hoisting by the lifting equipment. We can lift the tower on to the shelf, and finally, transport the windmill power tower after it is firmly bound with steel wire rope clasps. The above process’s operation is complicated, time-consuming, and laborious, and the work efficiency is low. After the wind power tower is on the flatbed transport vehicle, the center of gravity is high, and the driver’s requirements in the transportation process are very high. If the turning is too large or the road surface is uneven, it is easy to cause safety accidents.
The Schnabel trailer can overcome the above problems which may happen in conventional trailers with cargo platform beds.
Schnabel trailer is a type of trailer that has two holders that can clamp big and long cargo from both ends.
Sometimes we are using a frame(high girder bridge) and steel lifting belts to carry the cargo from its beneath, the belts across the cargo from one side to another side, we call it heavy haul trailer.
General trailers are carrying goods directly with its bed, the bed touching the lower surface of the cargo.
The most significant feature of the Schnabel trailer is the loading way is supporting the front and rear ends of the one-piece cargo.
Responsible for the fleet’s blade transportation’s safety command, the main difficulties are the turns and the mountain. If you encounter obstacles and turns during driving, you should command the driver and operator in time.
During driving, once the obstacles are in front of them, they should communicate in time. The staff at the back of the team shall immediately cooperate with the driver after understanding the situation.
Mainly responsible for blade’s angle position. When the windmill adapter trailer is turning, the blades can move up and down together with the adaptor, left and right, avoiding obstacles that may collide.
Follow the command of the adapter commander, react quickly, and control the direction of the blade.
In addition to the adapter operator, there is a particular type of work – steering operator, responsible for steering 32 wheels in 4 lines at the rear of the windmill adapter trailer.
The vessel bridge deck trailer includes frames with different designs to load and transport the wind towers:
The wind tower fixing mechanism for pressing the wind tower downward is below the vessel deck. A turnover clamping plate is arranged on the connecting part and the trailer’s chassis, a lifting device is set at the rear of the trailer. A walking wheel is installed at the lower end of the lifting device.
By matching the vessel bridge with the windmill tower fixing mechanism, the wind tower can not move back and forth and shake left and right during transportation. The self-loading and unloading of the wind energy tower process can be realized using the lifting device set on the walking part of the frame. The trailer chassis installed at the lower end of the lifting device reduces the labour’s working hours.
The new wind tower transportation device is consists of a front module and a rear module. The trailer chassis has four bogies; each bogie is with a frame and wheel. Bogie frame includes two side plates and supporting plates fixed on two side plates. The two side plates are inclined, and the two side plates come with semicircular connecting tables. The fan-shaped connecting plate connects to the wheel shaft, and the connecting table is coupling with the fan-shaped plate by bolts, and the support plate is on the vessel bridge deck.
The utility transport device is to solve the transfer problem of large wind power towers. The front trailer module has the same structure as the rear trailer module. The front trailer includes two vessel bridge low bed decks, two sets of vessel bracket, a chassis, and a floating deck. The vessel deck is the arc shape so that the deck can hold the tower section tightly.
The chassis consists of four bogies, each mounted on the lower part of the vessel deck. We can fix the two ends of the two vessel low bed decks are respectively to the vessel bracket. Each vessel bracket is provided with a bottom plate and a top plate. A floating deck is to support wind towers directly. The floating deck includes an arc-shaped curved beam whose bending radian matches the wind tower’s outer circumference. The height of the two vessel decks is lower than that of the curved shaft.
During the wind tower’s transportation, the front and rear trailers are in front and back positions, and the windmill tower will be directly placed on the floating deck of the front trailer module and rear trailer module. The front trailer module is driving by the tractor in front, and the posterior module is towing by the friction generated by the dead weight of the wind power tower. The floating deck’s structural design and vessel bracket reduce the center of gravity of the windmill tower. It does not need wire rope binding and fixing, which improves loading and unloading efficiency. It can meet the requirements of smooth turning during transportation.
